Buddhist Retreat Centre North Wales

The Hermitage of The Awakened Heart is a Buddhist meditation and retreat centre located near Criccieth, between Porthmadog and Bangor in Gwynedd, North Wales. The Hermitage, in sight of the picturesque hills of Snowdonia, is the hub of practice for the Awakened Heart Sangha.

The Hermitage is also the residence of our founder and Spiritual Director, Lama Shenpen Hookham. Lama Shenpen spends most of her time in meditation retreat and concentrating on her writings. Lama Shenpen’s work includes the Living the Awakened Heart Training – a unique, experiential home study course in Meditation and Buddhism.
